Chemical Peel Recovery Times

In the past, getting a chemical peel treatment meant booking recovery time off. Luckily, technological advances in the field mean that you can resume your normal day to day activities after a chemical peel, looking refreshed and revitalized.

The restorative action of a chemical peel works by penetrating the layers of skin and encouraging new skin growth, sloughing off the older skin cells in the process. As a result, you could experience some minor redness and flaking after the peel, akin to a mild sunburn, which should resolve within a few days.

Your skin may also feel dry and tight as the younger skin emerges, with some sensitivity expected depending on your skin’s natural response to the treatment. A small number of patients also may experience some mild swelling, although this is also temporary and no cause for concern. These effects can also be mitigated by keeping the skin clean and dry, and not hastening the peeling process in any way, as this can cause prolonged healing.

These side effects can all be minimized by using the Vivier Skin take-home products recommended by our clinicians. These products will soothe the skin, prevent irritation and encourage a faster and briefer peeling process. Vivier Skin  products work with the chemical peel to further improve skin tone and texture.

The team at Dr. Weber’s Cosmetic and Facial Rejuvenation Clinic will be happy to walk you through the process, recommend healing times, and discuss any concerns you may have regarding the peel.
