Latisse Recovery Details

Latisse is a medication that can be purchased from a qualified physician, and not an in clinic treatment. There is no recovery time however, there are some things potential patients should keep in mind before using Latisse.

Patients should not apply makeup or re-insert contact lenses for 15 minutes after treating eyelashes with Latisse. Latisse users should not expect to see results immediately. Latisse treats the individual eyelash/hair follicle, so you should see results increase during the normal life cycle of each lash. While some users report seeing noticeable changes to their lashes within the first month, you can expect to see the remarkable full results in about three months.

While Latisse is a product that produces long-lasting results, these results are not permanent. For the benefits to persist you must continue to use Latisse. Therefore, if patients stop using the product, lashes will return to their original appearance as the treated lashes fall out and new, untreated lashes grow in their place. If you are experiencing side effects as a result of the Latisse application, it is important to meet with one of our experienced clinicians to ensure you are comfortable moving forward with the treatment.

Side effects from Latisse application, however, are quite rare. The most common side effects are itching and/or redness around the eyes, which was reported by only 4% of patients. Such itching and redness was often temporary, and completely reversible by discontinuing use of the product. Less common side side effects include eyelid darkening, redness, or dryness at the place of application. These less common side effects are completely reversible as well. Latisse is a 0.03% solution of Bimatoprost, a medication delivered as eye drops for the treatment of glaucoma. Bimatoprost has had the unfortunate side effect of permanent darkening of the iris (the coloured part of the eye) in a small number of users. To date, there have been no reported cases of Latisse causing this side effect but full disclosure requires it be mentioned.

It is strongly advised that you see a licensed clinician in a safe, reputable clinic environment before using Latisse. The team at Dr. Stacie Weber’s Cosmetic Clinic will ensure you receive information on how to correctly apply the product and therefore maximize your results.
