Melasma presents as gray/brown patches, usually on the face (cheeks, bridge of the nose, forehead and upper lip). It is often symmetrical and influenced by hormonal changes including pregnancy, use of birth control pills and other hormonal therapies. Melasma will be worsened by UV exposure.
